Results
The graphs in the Data section
are seasonal comparisons for the Coastal Plain, Sandhills, Piedmont, Northern
Mountains, Southern Mountains and Outer Banks regions. Each graph displays the differences from the
seasonal averages of either temperature or precipitation. Half of the graphs contain 50-year period
(1959-2008) and the other half of the graphs contain the eight strongest ENSO
years (1966, 1973, 1974, 1976, 1983, 1989, 1992, and 1998).

For the Outer
Banks, the changes in correlation from all years to ENSO years were +0.60
for air temperature and +0.23 for precipitation.

For the Coastal
Plain, the changes in correlations from all years to ENSO years were +0.05
for air temperature and +0.41 for precipitation.

For the Sandhills,
the changes in correlations from all years to ENSO years were +0.40 for air
temperature and +0.40 for precipitation.

For the Piedmont,
the changes in correlations from all years to ENSO years were +0.26 for air
temperature and +0.07 for precipitation.

For the Northern
Mountains, the changes in correlations from all years to ENSO years were
+0.28 for air temperature and +0.03 for precipitation.

For the Southern
Mountains, the changes in correlations from all years to ENSO years were
+0.41 for air temperature and +0.05 for precipitation.
